EMDR Intensive Therapy
Virtual EMDR Intensives in California, North Carolina, and New York
Healing from trauma is deeply personal, and finding the right therapy approach can make all the difference. At Wildflower Therapy Group, we offer Virtual EMDR Intensive Therapy to individuals across California, North Carolina, and New York providing a focused, efficient, and transformative way to address trauma.
Our founder, Jaclyn Sappah, is an EMDRIA-Certified therapist, with specialized training in Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR. She is committed to helping you navigate your healing journey from the comfort of your own space.
What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals process and heal from trauma, anxiety, and other distressing life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR focuses on how traumatic memories are stored in both the brain and body. It also considers how trauma affects someone’s ability to regulate their nervous system and to connect with others. By addressing attachment-based challenges, EMDR takes a holistic approach to healing. Through bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, EMDR helps reprocess traumatic memories, reduce their emotional charge, and release trauma held in the body. This comprehensive method empowers you to move forward with greater clarity and freedom from the weight of the past.
EMDR Therapy vs EMDR Intensive Therapy
-
EMDR Therapy
In a traditional therapy setting, EMDR sessions typically occur once a week, offering a structured and steady approach to processing trauma. This method allows individuals to gradually unpack and address distressing memories while building a strong foundation of trust with their therapist. The weekly format provides the space needed to integrate insights, practice coping strategies, and reflect on progress between sessions, creating a balanced rhythm of growth and healing.
This approach is ideal for those who prefer a slower pace or need consistent, ongoing support while navigating complex or layered trauma. EMDR therapy provides the flexibility to address new challenges or emerging issues during the therapeutic process, ensuring therapy remains responsive to the individual’s needs. By focusing on gradual progress, clients gain a comprehensive understanding of their trauma’s impact and develop the tools needed for long-term resilience and emotional well-being.
One of the benefits of doing EMDR vs traditional therapy is that it's a therapeutic intervention that has a shorter timeframe. EMDR therapy sessions will last between 3 and 8 months where traditional therapy may take much longer. Additionally, it allows individuals to develop a comprehensive toolkit of skills for managing triggers and emotional responses, promoting lasting resilience and emotional well-being. For those seeking a gradual, sustained approach to healing, EMDR therapy offers the stability and ongoing care to achieve meaningful, transformative results.

EMDR Intensive Therapy
EMDR Intensives are condensed, highly focused sessions that take place over several hours or days, offering a deep dive into trauma healing. This format is ideal for individuals who want to target specific traumatic events or patterns quickly and efficiently. By reducing the time between sessions, intensives minimize the chance of losing therapeutic momentum, enabling deeper processing and faster progress. Intensives are particularly effective for those with busy schedules, those who have experienced a recent triggering event, or individuals who feel stuck in their healing journey and need a concentrated push forward.
Additionally, EMDR Intensives can be tailored to address multiple layers of trauma. There are various techniques for therapists to use when offering EMDR intensive therapy. I specialize in Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR which incorporates somatic techniques and attachment theory for a more holistic experience.
The intensive therapy approach is well-suited for people who are traveling for therapy, have limited availability for weekly appointments, or simply want to experience significant breakthroughs in a shorter time frame. While both formats are highly effective, the choice between long-term EMDR and intensives depends on individual goals, circumstances, and personal preferences.
The Benefits of EMDR Intensive Therapy
EMDR Intensives provide a powerful, efficient, and adaptable approach to trauma therapy. I specialize in Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR to address both the physical and emotional impacts of trauma. This comprehensive method offers significant benefits for those ready to focus deeply on their healing journey and achieve transformative results.
-
EMDR Intensives provide a unique opportunity to address and resolve trauma in a significantly shorter time compared to traditional weekly sessions. By dedicating extended, focused time to therapy, clients can process difficult memories more deeply and experience faster emotional and physical relief. This approach is particularly beneficial for those who feel stuck in their healing journey or are seeking a quick resolution to specific traumatic events.
-
Unlike traditional therapy, EMDR Intensives allow for uninterrupted, concentrated work on specific issues or memories. Without the delay of weekly breaks, clients can maintain momentum and dive deeper into their healing process. This focused attention enables more comprehensive processing, often leading to greater clarity and emotional breakthroughs in a shorter period.
-
The virtual format of EMDR Intensives eliminates the need for travel, making therapy accessible and convenient for individuals anywhere in California, New York, and North Carolina. Clients can engage in therapy from the comfort of their own home, reducing stress and maximizing their time for healing. This convenience is especially helpful for those with busy schedules, caregiving responsibilities, or limited access to in-person therapy.
-
EMDR Intensives at Wildflower Therapy Group go beyond traditional EMDR by incorporating advanced somatic techniques and prioritizing the importance of early attachment figures. These methods address trauma stored in the body and heal relational wounds, providing a holistic approach to trauma recovery. By integrating these techniques, clients experience healing on both emotional and physical levels, ensuring lasting results.
-
For individuals with demanding schedules, EMDR Intensives offer a flexible solution. Instead of committing to weekly appointments, clients can block out dedicated time for intensive sessions that fit their availability. This flexibility allows clients to prioritize their healing without disrupting their personal or professional commitments.
Who are EMDR Intensives for?
EMDR Intensives are a powerful option for individuals looking to address trauma and its effects more quickly and effectively than through traditional therapy methods. They are particularly suited for people dealing with:
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
For those who have experienced life-altering events such as accidents, abuse, or combat, EMDR Intensives provide a focused environment to process and reframe traumatic memories, reducing symptoms like flashbacks, hypervigilance, and emotional numbness.
Attachment and Relational Wounds
For those who have experienced difficult or dysfunctional relationships, particularly during childhood, EMDR Intensives with an Attachment-Based focus can help repair relational patterns, rebuild trust, and foster healthier connections.
Anxiety and Panic Disorders
Individuals struggling with excessive worry, intrusive thoughts, or panic attacks can benefit from the concentrated nature of intensives, allowing for targeted work on the root causes of their anxiety.
Chronic Stress or Burnout
High levels of sustained stress can take a toll on both mental and physical health. EMDR Intensives provide a structured opportunity to release the emotional burdens of stress, promoting balance and resilience.
Depression Linked to Trauma
Depression that stems from unresolved trauma can leave individuals feeling stuck or hopeless. EMDR Intensives help address underlying issues, offering a path to emotional relief and renewed motivation.
Physical Symptoms Linked to Trauma
Trauma is often stored in the body, manifesting as chronic tension, fatigue, or even pain. Techniques like EMDR help clients address and release these physical manifestations, offering relief and a renewed sense of well-being.
EMDR Intensives are also ideal for individuals who:
Feel stuck in traditional therapy: If weekly sessions are not yielding the desired progress, intensives can provide a concentrated effort to break through emotional barriers.
Need quick resolution: For those with time-sensitive concerns—such as returning to work, school, or other life commitments—intensives can offer significant progress in a condensed timeframe.
Have limited availability: Individuals with busy schedules or demanding responsibilities may prefer the flexibility of dedicating a block of time for therapy rather than committing to ongoing weekly appointments.
Are preparing for or recovering from a major life event: Whether processing a recent traumatic experience, preparing for a challenging situation, or recovering from a significant transition, intensives allow for focused work to build emotional strength and stability.
Are traveling for therapy: Clients from outside the immediate area can benefit from the concentrated nature of intensives, completing substantial work over a short period before returning home.
EMDR Intensives are a highly adaptable and effective option for those who are ready to engage deeply in their healing journey. They offer the opportunity to make meaningful progress in a safe, supportive environment designed to meet the unique needs of each individual.
